Neighborhood Music School Celebrates 112 Years with 2026 Legacy of Love Benefit Honoring Mark and Dan Guerrero
Generations of Music, Impact, and Community to take place at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes on May 28, 2026

LOS ANGELES, CA — May 28, 2026 — Neighborhood Music School (NMS), Los Angeles’ oldest community music school, proudly celebrates its 112th year of service to the Boyle Heights community with its annual Legacy of Love Benefit: Generations of Music, Impact, and Community, to be held at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes.

This year’s celebration honors the extraordinary legacy of brothers Dan Guerrero and Mark Guerrero, trailblazing artists with long and distinguished careers. Dan is an award-winning producer/director and Mark a successful singer/songwriter. Their work has shaped the music, arts, and creative industries while uplifting and amplifying the voices of their community. As the sons of legendary Chicano music pioneer Lalo Guerrero and Margaret Marmion Guerrero, Dan and Mark grew up immersed in a rich cultural and artistic heritage and have each forged influential careers defined by creativity, advocacy, and service.

Through their artistry and leadership, the Guerrero brothers have advanced representation in the entertainment industry, built platforms for emerging voices, and carried forward a multigenerational commitment to cultural pride and community impact. In recognition of their individual achievements and their shared legacy, Neighborhood Music School will present them with the Legacy Award at this year’s benefit.

“Dan and Mark Guerrero embody the power of the arts to transform lives and strengthen community across generations,” said Karen Louis, Executive Director of Neighborhood Music School. “Their lifelong dedication to cultural expression, storytelling, and access reflects the very heart of Neighborhood Music School’s mission. We are honored to celebrate their profound impact and to gather in a space that holds such deep historical and cultural significance for Los Angeles.”

The Legacy of Love Benefit is NMS’s signature annual event, bringing together artists, educators, civic leaders, and community members to support equitable access to high-quality music education. Proceeds from the evening will sustain NMS programs that serve students and families across Boyle Heights and throughout Los Angeles County through in-school partnerships, after-school instruction, private lessons, ensembles, and tuition-free community offerings.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, the evening will celebrate more than a century of music, learning, and community connection while investing in the next generation of young musicians.
