Neighborhood Music School
Established 1914

The Neighborhood Music School of East Los Angeles serves its surrounding communities by providing music instruction and performance opportunities to enrich the talent, intellect and lives of its students.

Welcome

The Neighborhood Music School was founded in 1914 when East Los Angeles was a neighborhood of Russian and Jewish immigrants. Beginning appropriately in a house on Mozart Street, the School now owns and operates in a charming Victorian house near Fourth and Boyle in Boyle Heights.

The school, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, currently provides private music lessons instruction to more than 250 students in instruments including piano, voice, violin, guitar, flute and many other instruments. In addition to individualized private instruction, group and ensemble programming is offered to students of all ages.
